Box Score MCKENZIE, TN – Campbellsville dominates from start to finish with a 105-51 win over Brescia Saturday afternoon to move to 2-0 on the season.
The first quarter opened with the Lady Tigers quickly getting to business against the Bearcats with a 10-2 run to open the first 4 minutes of the game. The Tigers continue their onslaught of points after going up 21-2, with several quick lay ups in transition. During the run the Tigers were 9-12, had not shot a three pointer yet. The Tigers finished the half out strong only allowing 11 points of the Bearcats and put up 31 contributed to mostly by open lay ups, The Lady Tigers were very efficient in using their free throws going 9 for 9 from the charity stripe.
Lauren Lee and
Kaitlynn Wilks lead the way for the Tiger with both having 6 points at the end of the first.
The second quarter started with the two teams both coming out and scoring quickly. However, after the Bearcats last bucket they got stuck on the wrong side of a great run by the Lady Tigers going on the 14-4 run that set the team safely in the driver's seat leading 45-15. Campbellsville finished out the second quarter just as strong with only allowing 11 points in the quarter to The Bearcats while putting up 28, with a score of 59-22 to close the half. Three players were in double figures in scoring at the end of the first half.
Kayla Luebbe led the way with 13 points, followed by Lee and
Courtney Pritchett who both had 10 points at the close of the first quarter.
Campbellsville wasted no time in the third quarter either having jumped out to a very quick 7-2 run and playing tremendous defense after already turning the Bearcats over twice in just three possessions. At the media timeout the Lady Tigers showed how dominant they really were after having put up 22 points in the quarter with three minutes to go. The lead only continued to grow for Campbellsville with the score being 81-32. The Lady Tigers finished out the third quarter being up 88-35. At the end of the 3rd quarter had five athletes in double digits with Pritchett leading the way with 19 for the game.
The two teams followed this throughout the remainder of the game, with the Lady Tigers passing the 100-point mark with a minute and a half left in the game.
The Lady Tigers had five players finish in double figures leading the way was Pritchett with 19 points, Luebbe with 15 points, Lee with 14 points, and finally Wilks and
Elizabeth Bertrum with 10 points apiece. As a team shot 51% (35 for 68) from the field, and 39.1% (9 of 23) from beyond the arc. Campbellsville shot 92 % (26 of 28) from the free throw line. Campbellsville also had a 2.4 assist to turnover ratio. Defensively the Lady Tigers held the Bearcats to 35% from the field and six percent from beyond the arc, while also causing 24 turnovers.
The Lady Tigers will move on to face Mid-South Conference opponent University of Tennessee Southern in Pulaski, TN. The game will have a 6:30 ET tip-off.
