Lady Tiger Basketball goes to 6-0 in MSC play with rout of #24 Patriots

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.– The #3 Campbellsville University women's basketball team hosted the (RV) University of the Cumberlands Thursday evening. The Lady Tigers bested the Patriots from the tip forward, 103-75.

Campbellsville scored first as Lauren Lee went straight to the basket within the first six-seconds of play. After the initial bucket, the Lady Tigers collected a few steals and kept pursuing the basket. Bailey Pedigo managed the first three-pointer of the night as her bucket put Campbellsville ahead by seven points. Pedigo amassed another steal for the Lady Tigers, which led to Elizabeth Bertram making the second three-pointer of the night to put Campbellsville ahead by double-digits. A few moments later, Kayla Luebbe went up for a basket and was awarded two shots at the charity stripe. Luebbe solidified the two baskets at the free-throw line and proved to be a problem for the Patriots all night.

Campbellsville's impenetrable defense kept the Patriots from scoring above 12 points in the first quarter. The Lady Tigers sustained their stamina driving to the basket for buckets over and over again. Luebbe continued to exert her offensive efforts as she snatched an offensive rebound which she turned into yet another Lady Tiger basket. Campbellsville entered the half leading the University of the Cumberlands, 51-28.

Early in the third quarter, Boyle had a vital second-chance bucket from Pedigo's missed shot. The Lady Tigers left no room for the Patriots to defeat their deficit. Lee assisted a pass to Wilks, and Wilks's layup pushed Campbellsville's lead to 30 points. Though, Cumberlands scored their most in a quarter for the with 24 points in the third.

In the final quarter, the Patriots cut their shortfall to 28 points with six minutes left of play. Luebbe had earned her season high in tonight's match. Lubbe played valiantly in the post as she pushed through defenders for buckets. Luebbe placed the Lady Tigers back at their 30-point reign with her shot from the free-throw line. Campbellsville had tallied an 80% from the stripe as Paige Evans converted her free-throw attempts too. Campbellsville earned the win over the Patriots in a 103-75 score.
