HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Campbellsville University Baseball team traveled to Henderson, Tennessee to take on (RV) Freed-Hardeman on Friday night. The Tigers fell to the Lions of Freed-Hardeman 5-0.

After a three up, three down first inning, the Lions had the first hit of the ball game putting a runner into scoring position. Another hit for the Lions gave them an early 1-0 lead over the Tigers. Zion Payne, Noah Amenta, and Jacob White retired the runner who was caught stealing to prevent the Lions from scoring again.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Lions took advantage with two runners in scoring position taking a 3-0 lead over the Tigers. The Tigers continued to struggle at the plate sending pitches directly to the fielders.
In the fifth inning, Eddy Arteaga was given free bases via walk becoming the first Tiger to reach base. Alex Castaneda came in to pinch run for Arteaga. White sent a pitch out to right field giving the Tigers their first hit of the ball game. In the top of the seventh inning, Logan Verble hit a single to center field. Tyler Belcher came in to hit for Arteaga and grounded out to the pitcher advancing Verble to second base. The Tigers could not get their runners around the bases. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Chad McCann came in to relieve Payne at the mound. Two more Lions made their way around the bases taking a five-run lead over the Tigers.
In the eighth inning, Josiah Clark sent a pitch out to center field landing himself a single. Sam Fagerness came in to pinch hit for Samino Uze reaching base via walk. A wild pitch advanced both Clark and Fagerness. The Tigers could not capitalize with runners on base leaving both stranded. In the top of the ninth inning, Verble added another hit to the Tiger's stats, but it wasn't enough. The Tigers fell to the Lions 5-0.
The Tigers had four hits in the ball game, two of those belonging to Verble. White and Clark were the other two Tigers to get a hit. Payne and McCann threw a combined total of 119 pitches giving them a .672 strike percentage.
The Tigers are scheduled to stay put and take on (RV) Freed–Hardeman again Saturday in Henderson, Tennessee. The double-header is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. ET.
