Cheer takes first at competition against Lindsey Wilson, Cumberland

COLUMBIA, Ky.- Campbellsville University's cheer squad competed in their first 2022 competition at Lindsey Wilson College Sunday afternoon. The Tigers faced off against the Blue Raiders and the Cumberland University Phoenix taking first place finishes in both events.
 
Campbellsville was first to see the mat in both rounds of competition. In the first round, the Tigers hit their stunts and completed a strong pyramid to receive a score of 81.55. Their competitors Lindsey Wilson received a 67.85 and Cumberland received a 63.55 first round score. Campbellsville went into round two with a 13.7 advantage over the nearest competitor. This score is tallied as the highest score that Campbellsville has received since head coach Amanda Gabehart has been appointed the position. 

The second round, the Tigers were flawless in their trek to beat the competition. The Blue Raiders finished the event in second place with a 72.55 and the Phoenix ended in third place with a 69.95. The Tigers rose above the other teams with an 81.65 final score which stood 9.1 points above their foes. The competition was the first cheerleading win for Gabehart as head coach. 
 
The Tiger cheer team will return to competition at the Mid-South Conference Championship next Saturday February 12th. The conference is to be held in Bowling Green, Kentucky and the start time is to be announced.
