LEBANON, Tenn. - The Campbellsville Tigers baseball Team traveled to Cumberland University for the first game of a three-game series on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers are now 2-4 in Mid-South Conference play with a game one loss to the Phoenix.

The Tigers had a quick first half inning to start the ball game but kept the Phoenix from scoring with two runners on base.
Jeremiah Lebron had a lead-off walk to reach base to start the second inning. Lebron was caught in a pickle for the first out of the inning.
Samio Uze was given free bases after being hit by a pitch. Unfortunately, Uze was left on base. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, the Phoenix loaded the bases and sent a pitch over the fence for a grand slam. The Phoenix took a four-run lead over the Tigers.

To begin the third inning,
Jacob White singled to left field.
Josiah Clark reached base via walk and advanced White to second base. Clark was picked off at first to go into the bottom of the third inning. With a runner on, the Phoenix sent another pitch over the center field fence and took a six-run lead over the Tigers.Â

Noah Amenta reached base via walk in the top of the fourth inning.
Jorge Gonzalez sent a pitch over the fence for a two-run home run.
Cameron Castaneda singled to left field to reach first base. White reached base via walk and moved Castaneda up to second base. With Castaneda and White on base,
Eddy Arteaga sent a pitch over the right field fence for a three-run home run. The Tigers were just one run behind the Phoenix to go into the bottom half of the inning.
Mason Lee came in to relieve
Zion Payne on the mound. The Phoenix sent two more runners across the plate to take a three-run advantage over the Tigers.Â

During the fifth inning, Amenta reached base after being walked. Lebron also reached base after being walked and advanced Amenta into scoring position at second base. After a balk by the pitcher, Amenta and Lebron moved up a base. Uze was also walked to load the bases for the Tigers. Castaneda sent a pitch down the right field line to land himself a triple and score Amenta, Lebron, and Uze to tie the game. White singled down the left field line and scored Castaneda. The Tigers took a one-run lead over the Phoenix going into the bottom half of the inning.
Luis Lopez took over on the mound for Lee after taking a line drive to the ankle. The Phoenix sent a runner across the plate to tie the ball game again. After yet another Phoenix runner found their way around the bases,
Chad McCann came in to pitch for the Tigers. The Phoenix added three more runs to the scoreboard before the end of the fifth inning.Â

Clark doubled down the left field line with two outs in the top half of the sixth inning. The Tigers could not capitalize with a runner on base and left Clark stranded. To start the bottom half of the inning, the Phoenix sent another pitch over the fence for a home run. After the Phoenix added two more runs to the scoreboard,
Jackson Izatt came in to pitch for the Tigers. Gonzalez singled to shortstop to start the seventh inning. Gonzalez advanced to second base on a wild pitch but was left stranded. The Phoenix scored two more runs to take a ten-run lead to end the ball game. The Tigers fell to the Phoenix 19-9.Â

The Tigers had eight hits with White, Gonzalez, and Castaneda each had two hits. Gonzalez and Arteaga each had a home run. The Tigers had five different pitchers with a combined total of 180 pitches and a .622 strike percentage.Â

The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow to complete the second and third games of the series in Lebanon, Tennessee. The games are set to begin at 1 p.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. ET.
