CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Lady Tigers brought out the brooms this afternoon completing the sweep over Pikeville defeating the Bears 11-1 in the first game and 8-0 in the second game.
Game One: Campbellsville: 11, Pikeville: 1
Campbellsville was able to jump on the board early in the first inning with a runoff
Payton Blades single to left and
Lexi Miller crossing Homeplate for the first time on the day.
Lady Tigers jumped on the Bears in the second inning scoring five runs.
Ryley Whitney got the scoring going in the second when she hit an RBI double up the middle scoring
Hadlee Carter and
Keely Bowling. Blades was at the plate for the second time on the day and hit a three-run home run.
Bowling had the only other home run in the first game. A moon shot coming in the fourth to left center put the Lady Tigers up 11-1 in the fourth and Campbellsville would end the game in five.
Katy Chadwell had a great showing in the circle in game one. Chadwell struck out five batters while only allowing one run.
Courtney Patterson came in in the fifth inning to finish things off in game one striking out one batter.
Game Two: Campbellsville: 8, Pikeville: 0
The sweep was complete in game two and the Lady Tigers did not have to play more than five innings all weekend.
The second inning was key in this game as it had been the previous three games. Campbellsville would jump out to its early lead in the game.
Madison Davis had a solo home run in the second, immediately after Davis
Riley Hurst had a two-run shot.
Davis had one more RBI on the afternoon coming in the third inning with the bases loaded making the score 4-0 after three.
Bailey Richardson hit a single up the middle scoring a two-runs off the hit.
Karson Williams pitched the entire five innings for the Lady Tigers. Williams struck out seven batters and only allowed four hits on her day in the circle.
With the four-game sweep Campbellsville now improves to a record of 16-13. Lady Tigers will be back on the field Tuesday March 29
th when Brescia comes to town for a midweek doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
