GEORGETOWN, Ky.- The Campbellsville University softball team traveled to Georgetown College to compete in a Mid-South Conference showdown Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Tigers finished with two wins under their belts by games' end extending their current win streak to 12 games, ten of those against conference opponents.
Â
Game one: Campbellsville 11, Georgetown 3
Â
The Lady Tigers had a slow start at the top of the first inning as they hit two pop-ups to the rival Tigers' shortstop and then struck out swinging for three fast outs. Georgetown singled to center field before reaching second on a fielder's choice. Georgetown scored on the next at bat to left center followed by a single to second base which gave Georgetown an early lead of two over the Lady Tigers. Campbellsville got their third out on Georgetown's last run.Â
Â
The top of the second would start great for the Lady Tigers after
Madison Davis doubled to center field.
Keely Bowling would get hit by a pitch to walk to first base just before
Ryleigh Oldham doubled to left center field sending both ladies home and giving her two RBIs evening the score. The Lady Tigers had two outs before Oldham scored and got their last one when
Riley Hurst grounded out to shortstop. Georgetown would load the bases early in the bottom of the second putting three singles to the field and scoring a run in the process. The Lady Tigers would not let them score much more as they forced out a runner at home before Georgetown would hit one to third base for an easy out.Â
Â
Campbellsville would start the top of the third with a quick out that was popped to left field followed by
Ryley Whitney walking.
Payton Blades would double to left center field to get Whitney on third.
Taylor Windell would ground out to first base just before
Madison Davis hit a home run and sent Whitney and Blades home giving the Tigers the lead 5-3. The Lady Tigers would get first and second loaded again just before their last out was popped up to the pitcher. Georgetown would get two outs before loading the bases just to be disappointed when their last hitter grounded out to second base.Â
Â
The Lady Tigers watched the top of the fourth fly by as their first two hitters grounded one and flied one. Whitney would send a ball over center field for a single home run just before Blades flied out to right field to end the first half of the inning. Georgetown would quickly go back to the outfield as all three hitters could not get to first base before the ball.Â
Â
The top of the fifth also flew by for the Lady Tigers. Murt would double down the left field line but unfortunately Georgetown's defense was too strong and stopped the other three batters. Both teams had their defenses on peak as Campbellsville did it faster and sent Georgetown's three hitters back to their dugouts in quick fashion.Â
Â
The sixth inning started with a double down left center by Oldham.
Riley Hurst singled to center field and then proceeded to steal second with Oldham on third.
Lexi Miller doubled down the left field line to send the two-home making the score 8-3. Georgetown would change four of their players after this but it would not make a difference after Whitney had a two-run home run to advance the score to 10-3. Soon after Blades doubled down the left field line before getting subbed for
Journey Knowles to run. Windell proceeded to walk before Davis popped one to short stop for the first out of the inning.  The hits piled up and Miller had a three-run homer which
Bailey Richardson followed up with in the next at bat.
Courtney Patterson came in to close out the game as she forced Georgetown into a strikeout and two ground outs to win the game.
Â
Whitney had a complete game at the plate with three appearances and three hits. She also totaled three RBIs. Miller tallied herself five RBIs and Davis came up with three RBIs. Chadwell and Patterson finished with a .660 strike percentage for the Lady Tigers.
Â
Game two: Campbellsville 8, Georgetown 2 Â
Â
The Lady Tigers bats stayed hot even into the second match-up. Hurst homered her first at-bat of the contest to right-field. Whitney and Blades both drove balls to the outfield to move around the base pads. Davis reached first on a wild throw, but Whitney scored in return. In response, Georgetown scratched one away with an unearned run.
Â
Oldham started off the second inning with a single and her teammate,
Hadlee Carter, opted for a sacrifice bunt to push Oldham around the bases. Hurst reappeared at the plate for a key hit up the middle to score Oldham. Williams stayed resilient in the circle as she pushed the next three Tiger batters to ground out.
Â
Both teams suffered from a scoreless third and fourth inning due to both teams being restricted to get more than four batters up to the plate. However, that changed when Whitney and Blades tallied two singles to place themselves on the bases.
Journey Knowles took Whitney's place on the diamond to pinch run. Davis collected a three-run RBI homerun as she sent the ball flying over the left-field wall. After Georgetown's failed attempt at the plate, Campbellsville displayed their strengths in the box yet again. Miller accumulated a solo trip around the bases with her hit over right-center. Georgetown reciprocated the energy as they knocked one run off the Lady Tigers' lead as they took advantage of a Campbellsville error to steal home.
Â
In the final inning, Bowling and Oldham both worked the count to earn their strut down the first-base line.
Emily Reynolds, replacement for Bowling, was unfortunately picked off at second, but Murt propelled her team as her triple scored Oldham. The Georgetown Tigers were unsuccessful in their attempt to combat the Lady Tigers.
Â
Bowling and Blades both went two-for-three on their at bats finishing with a .667 percent at the plate. Davis collected three RBIs and Hurst followed with two RBIs.
Karson Williams pitched the entire game and only allowed four hits. She finished her time in the circle with a strike percentage of a .704 after facing only 27 batters within the seven innings.

th and Saturday, April 16
