GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Lady Tiger softball team traveled to play a double-header against the Georgetown Tigers Saturday afternoon. Campbellsville earned the sweep and came home with two more wins on their season.
Game one: Campbellsville 10, Georgetown 2
The Lady Tigers started at bat and Georgetown was able to get Campbellsville's first three batters out.
Katy Chadwell was the starting pitcher for game one. In the bottom of the first inning Georgetown was the first to score and ended the first inning with just one run between the two teams.
In the second inning,
Payton Blades got the bats going for the Lady Tigers. Blades sent a ball over the fence for her third homerun of the year. Georgetown couldn't score after the Lady Tigers got three quick outs and headed to the third with the score tied.
The third inning started with two quick outs for Georgetown.
Lexi Miller got on base after being walked and then stole second.
Ryley Whitney was walked right after Miller which led to Blades at bat again. Blades hits a single to left field and Miller scored. Blades attempted to get to second base but was thrown out. The bottoms of the third and the entire inning went scoreless for each team and Campbellsville led Georgetown two runs to one going into the fifth inning.
Campbellsville saw two runs in the top of the fifth after Miller and
Riley Hurst scored. Those two runs gave Campbellsville a 4-2 advantage over Georgetown. In the bottom of the fifth, the opposing Tigers scored one more run which would be their last of the game. In the sixth inning the bats were hot for the Lady Tigers as they scored six more runs which came from
Taylor Windell,
Ryleigh Oldham,
Keely Bowling,
Hadlee Carter,
Riley Hurst, and
Lexi Miller. Campbellsville would go on to win the first game 10-2.
Chadwell was the winning pitcher for the Lady Tigers throwing the entire game. She threw 107 pitches with a .466 strike percentage and only gave up seven hits.
Game two: Campbellsville 5, Georgetown 0
The Lady Tigers looked to take home a sweep as they started game two against Georgetown. In the top of the first inning, Miller was the first on base after she hit a double. Following her, Whitney singled and Miller advanced to third. Blades was up to bat next and hit a single, bringing home Miller as Whitney advanced to third.
Madison Davis then hit a single which sent home Whitney to give the Lady Tigers two runs going into the bottom of the first.
Campbellsville kept the Georgetown Tigers to no runs through the entire game with
Karson Williams pitching for the Lady Tigers. Campbellsville continued scoring amassing three runs through the remainder of the game. The third run came from Bowling who hit a homerun in the top of the second inning. In the top of the fifth inning, Hurst scored the fourth run with another homerun. The final run for the Lady Tigers was scored in the top of the sixth inning as
Madison Davis scored on a wild pitch.
Williams pitched each inning for Campbellsville and threw a .600 strike percentage. She also threw 120 pitches and only gave up three hits.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action Tuesday, April 5
th and will face Bethel University. The game will be home at Hord Field starting at 2:00 p.m. ET.
