Tigers pull out a top five team finish at the Mid-South Conference Championships

WILLIAMSBURG, KY – The Tigers were able to finish in the top five of the Mid-South Conference Championships placing fifth overall with 103 points.

The highlight was CamRon Hamby who was named Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year and Assistant Coach Anthony Thompson who was named Mid-South Conference Assistant Coach of the Year.

"Anything is possible by just continuing to believe," said Thompson. "It's more than just track and field, continue to build each day brick by brick."
 
The triple jump was the main event of the day for Cambellsville. The Tigers scored 21 points out of the event with six athletes scoring. CamRon Hamby led the group placing third at 14.67m earning an NAIA A Standard. David Young came in close behind at fourth with his mark of 14.15m, Brevon Whitney was able to have a big last jump and place fifth on the day with a mark of 14.06m.
 
Corey Smith was sixth place in the triple jump while going for his mark of 13.60m. Jaron Hamby earned two points in the event placing seventh at 13.18m and Barrye Trotter placed eighth on the day at 13.17m. 
 
Brayden Thomas started off the day for Campbellsville with a runner-up performance in the 5,000m racewalk. Thomas made a move with one mile to go to gap the third place athlete and Thomas crossed the line in 24:26.55. Benjamin Graf finished with one point to his name placing eighth with a time of 31:39.39.
 
In the 1500, Sam Kiser missed a top three podium spot placing fourth on the day with a time of 4:02.83. Aiden Tucker wasn't far behind Kiser in eighth place running a 4:05.80. Kiser was also in the 800m run with a fifth place performance running 1:57.50
 
In the sprints, Elijah Moore earned his first bronze medal of the day with his performance in the 100m dash. Moore crossed the line in 10.92, just .01 behind second place. Chance Lucas crossed the line earning the team one point in eighth at 11.14. Jackson Harrell crossed the line in 22.19 placing seventh overall on the day.
 
Dakota Brady had a big day in the 5,000m run. Brady came on strong near the end of the race placing fifth overall with a time of 15:48.80.
 
The 4x400m relay came across the line in fifth place out of Trotter, Moore, Maikyah Stowe, and Kobie Neal running a time of 3:24.53.
 
Seth Cartwright jumped on the points in the shot put. Cartwright placed sixth in the event with a mark of 13.36m. 
 
CamRon Hamby and Trotter earned the team 10 points out of the high jump. Hamby was the runner-up in the event with a height of 1.95m while Trotter had a height of 1.85m. 
 
Cainan Daniels was a key performer in the tough event of the decathlon made up of 10 different events. Daniels completed the event with 4,510 points overall. 
 
Campbellsville will now prepare for the NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships May 12-14 in Greenville, Ill.
