OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – Tigers Soccer traveled north today to take on the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City University. What took place was 90 minutes of hard fought soccer where Campbellsville persevered and finally scored in the 87th minute to win 1-0.

The first half was not very eventful in the box score for either side other than a couple well-placed shots and well-defended kicks. The opening 45 minutes led to both teams being tied up at nil. Through the first half of action, there was only one shot on goal between the two teams coming from Campbellsville's leading scorer from 2021, Sebastiano Musu. The first half proved to be a defensive battle between the two teams with both teams only combining for 6 shots in total.  

The second half was a lot of the same from both teams as they fought for possession and control incessantly. The game was a stalemate through nearly the entire way without either team allowing an inch to the other. This was all up until the 87th minute when the Tigers were able to break through the tough Mighty Oak defense. Antonio Quinta's free kick crossed over into the box where the ball bounced off of a head to a leaping Yuso Kojima who himself headed it over to Samuel Londono. Londono, feet from the goal with only the keeper between him and paydirt, found the back of the net. The Tigers shifted into a strict defensive focused for the final minutes two minutes to go on and take the scrappy win, 1-0.

Campbellsville was able to triple their shots in the latter 45, kicking six as opposed to just two. Their defense smothered the Mighty Oaks; Oakland City didn't post a shot on goal for the entirety of the match.

The Tigers will continue their season at home on September 14th against Talladega College. The match will begin at 8pm ET.
