Smith secures ticket to NAIA Championships, Tigers conclude weekend at Rob McCavy Invitational

LEXINGTON, KY – The Tigers secured NAIA marks and school records in their first meet back from Christmas break at the Rob McCavy Invitational.

Corey Smith led the way for Campbellsville with a 9th place 14.33m mark in the triple jump. Smith's mark was an NAIA A Standard, and he earned his plane ticket to the NAIA Championships in March. 

Kilan Macklin has begun his return to form since his injury last season. Macklin placed 12th in the long jump at 6.66m. Matthew Mays was close behind in 13th with his jump of 6.65m. 

Elijah Moore qualified for the 60m semi-finals to finish 16th overall in the event with his time of 7.01. Moore returned and led the way for the Tigers in the 200m. Moore was in a three-way tie for 18th that broke the times down to one one-thousandth of a second. His time was 22.732. Maikyah Stowe was .10 seconds behind Moore in 22.83.

Greg Carr and Ishan Cooper made their way into the semi-finals of the 60m hurdles. Carr ran his best time in the prelims at 8.74, while Cooper hit his best time of the day in the semis of 8.73.

Stowe is inching closer to the sub-50 mark in the open 400m. Stowe lowered his school record time from last season to a 50.32 in a 13th-place effort on the day. Miah Chatmond finished behind Stowe in 16th in 50.73. 

Noah Rogers earned a top-25 finish in the 600m. Rogers crossed the line in 1:28.67. 

Nolan Flispart missed a sub 2:10 in the 800m with an 18th-place finish of 2:10.18. 

Shawn Little set his first school record of the season in the 3,000m run. Little takes down Adam Sandidge's record that stood since the 2017 indoor season with a new time of 8:42.15. Dakota Brady crossed the line 22 seconds behind Little in 9:04.52. 

The distance team put together a 4x400m relay team earning 11th with a time of 3:46.48. Lukas Smithson, Alex Steen, Brady, and Flispart were all on the relay. 

In the weight throw, Jonah Oliver threw for a top-25 mark. Oliver placed 22nd in the event with his mark of 11.04m. 

The Tigers will return to the track on Saturday, January 21st, for the Kentucky College Invitational in Louisville, KY.
