CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky – The Campbellsville University Lady Tigers Soccer team took on the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders Wednesday night. A hot start in the first half propelled the Lady Tigers ahead of the Blue Raiders to gain their first-ever program win against Lindsey Wilson, 5-1.
Lindsey Wilson took the first shot and goal of the first half, but Campbellsville responded lethally. Lina Berrah executed one in the upper right corner, 1-1. Angeline Kieh gave the Lady Tigers their second goal in the 24th minute, assisted by Olja Ivanovic. Five minutes later, Kieh came in clutch with a header, 3-1. The offense train didn't slow down and kept rolling. Lulu Harris put one in the back of the net, extending their lead over the Blue Raiders to 4-1. Before the end of the first half, Kieh and Agatha Nimene scored one last goal to extend the Lady Tigers lead, 5-1, and gave Kieh a hat trick.
The second half was a slower start for the Lady Tiger's offense, but they kept the pressure on the Blue Raiders. Shots from both Nimene and Berrah proved the Lady Tigers were still looking to add a few more to the scoreboard. Later in the match, new faces joined the pitch and continued the same pace and momentum but struggled to get anything in the net. The Lady Tigers finished the game 5-1.
The Lady Tigers overruled the Blue Raiders in many of the statistical categories. Campbellsville had 16 shots and 11 shots on goal compared to Lindsey's seven shots and seven shots on goal. The Lady Tigers and Blue Raiders were tied for a total of six saves each.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action to take on the Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia, at 3 P.M. ET on Sunday, October 15th.
