Lawrenceville, Ga. – The RV Lady Tiger soccer team traveled to Lawrenceville, Georgia, to face the #24 Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College on Sunday afternoon. A late 89th-minute goal by the Grizzlies wasn't enough for Georgia Gwinnett. The Lady Tigers took down the Grizzlies 2-1.
The Lady Tigers didn't wait around to get the first half started. In the 4th minute of play, Lina Berrah, assisted by Chloe Holt, sent one into the net to give the Lady Tigers an early 1-0 lead over the Grizzlies. Shot attempts from Berrah, Bethin Boyle, Lulu Harris, and Olja Ivanovic were all saved by the Grizzlies' goalie. In the 41st minute, Boyle, assisted by Ivanovic, sent another into the net. Before the end of the first half, the Lady Tigers lead over the Grizzlies, 2-0.
Foul-after-foul and many offside calls on both sides began the second half. Back-to-back shot attempts from Charlotte Maconachie and Ivanovic, both coming in high. With four minutes of play left, a shot attempt came from Angeline Kieh but was saved by the Grizzlies' goalie. In the 89th minute, the Grizzlies made their first goal, 2-1.
The Lady Tigers led the way in several statistical categories: shots (12-7), shots on goal (7-3), goals (2-1), and assists (2-1).
Campbellsville will be back in action on Friday, October 20th, in McKenzie, Tennessee, to take on Bethel University at 6 P.M. ET.
