Grizzlies strike late to move past Tigers, 1-0

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Tigers took to the road to battle against the #23 Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Campbellsville's defensive efforts were not enough to hold Georgia Gwinnett from scoring at the 79-minute mark, losing the match 1-0.

The game came to a slow offensive start, with neither team scoring in the development of the first half. Nathan Schmidli attempted a shot at the goal, landing slightly wide left. The Tigers focused on their defensive efforts as the first 45 continued to unfold, with no more trials at the goal. The first half came to an end with the scoreboard still tied at zero.

Much like the first half, the latter 45 also came to a slow offensive start, with neither team scoring and only starting to attempt shots at the goal after 20 minutes of play. Then, off of a throw in, a Grizzly popped the ball up and over the Tiger defense and into the box. There, a streaking Georgia Gwinnett player sank the shot at the 79-minute mark. Before the horn, Marc Boye and Zeezo Cassim attempted goals for the Tigers, but neither trial was successful. Despite the Tigers' efforts to retaliate, Campbellsville lost the game 1-0.

The Tigers will be back in action, hosting the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders on October 11th, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
