Kiprop places 15th at NAIA Championships earning All-American honors

VANCOUVER, WAIsaac Kiprop caps off a historic cross country season by earning NAIA All-American honors.

Early in the race, Kiprop placed himself inside the top-15 through the first few kilometers. Through three kilometers, he was sitting tied for 10th, coming through at 9:15.2.

Kiprop maintained position inside the top-15 at the four-kilometer mark in 12th place overall. At the 5K mark, he came through at 15:38.5.

The final 3K proved to be the most important of the race. He fell five spots from the 5K-6K mark to 16th. He moved back up one spot into 15th at the 7K mark. Kiprop finished off the race, finishing in a time of 25:14.4, placing 15th. 

"We knew coming in that Isaac had a shot at doing something special here at the national championships," said head coach Corbin Harris. "He's done well all year by way he has mentored and led in the program to the younger guys. He has made us proud today". 

Mid-South Conference team champions, the University of the Cumberlands, placed 3rd overall with 114 team points. 

Campbellsville will now look ahead towards indoor track season at the University of Finlay on November 30th.
