HUNTINGTON, WV – Campbellsville finished off the 2023 portion of the track schedule with four school records and three NAIA standards at Marshall Friday evening.
Elijah Moore started the Tigers off to a hot start in the 60m. He set his own school record in the event, improving it to a 6.89 from 6.93. Moore picked up the win while
Darionta Bell placed 2nd at 6.98,
Zachary Phelps was 3rd in 7.02, and
Chance Lucas was 4th in 7.03.
Ishan Cooper put his name in the record books with a new school record in the 300m. Cooper, a hurdle specialist, stepped into the event and walked away with a 7th place finish of 36.99. Cooper also came away with a win in the 60m hurdles in 8.31 while earning an NAIA B standard in the process.
Maikyah Stowe made his season debut in the 400m. Stowe first dropped under the 50-second barrier last indoor season. He was able to run 49.93 for 5th overall, only .58 seconds off his school record.
CamRon Hamby now stands alone in the record books in the high jump. The previous record was set at 2.00m, Hamby set a new school record and NAIA A Standard mark of 2.05m. That mark puts him tied for 6th in the nation.
Kilan Macklin tied for 2nd overall at 1.95m,
Van Thrasher was 4th with his height of 1.90m, and
Zachary Mason tied with Thrasher for 4th.
The Tigers swept the podium in the pole vault.
Cainan Daniels set a new school record in the event with his height and PR of 3.75m.
Jackson Hollinsworth and
Justice Edlin placed 2nd and 3rd overall. Hollinsworth cleared 3.65m, while Edlin cleared 3.55m on his third attempt.
Macklin picked up a solo win and an NAIA B Standard mark in the long jump. He hit 7.07m on his second attempt of the day for the victory.
Jonah Oliver finished things out for Campbellsville in the throws. Oliver was 4th in the shot put with an 11.82m throw on his second attempt of the night. In the weight throw, he was 6th with a mark of 13.24m on his final throw of the day.
Campbellsville will now head into the Christmas break and return to the track on Saturday, January 20th, at Centre College.
