CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers hosted the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders at Hord Softball Field Saturday afternoon. After a split on day one, the Lady Tigers ignited their bats and ended the game early at 11-1.
After stagnating the Blue Raiders to little offense, Campbellsville poised three runs. Riley Hurst placed herself on the bases with a single up the middle. Lexi Miller's double batted in Hurst for the game's first run. Caroline Pitcock stationed herself on the bases after being hit by a pitch and then Taylor Windell collected a two-run RBI double to push the Lady Tigers further ahead.
Katy Chadwell stood in the circle for Campbellsville. Chadwell's pitching and her fellow defense prevented the Blue Raiders from advancing. Payton Blades's double added another run to Campbellsville's score. In the top of the fourth, Lindsey Wilson homered to scratch off one run; however, the Lady Tigers retaliated in the latter half of the inning. Campbellsville swiftly fashioned seven runs before the Blue Raiders composed their first out. RBIs from Keely Bowling, Hurst, Blades, and Windell extended the lead for the Lady Tigers.
Chadwell knocked down the first batter in a backward K in the top of the fifth. The following two batters saw no results from their time at the plate, and Campbellsville secured the 11-1 win.
Hurst finalized a .667 in the batter's box with two RBIs. Miller, Pitcock, Windell, and Bowling finished the day with .500, Although Miller led the way with three RBIs. Chadwell threw a total of 74 pitches and amassed a .676 strike percentage.
The Lady Tigers will travel to the University of Pikeville for a three-game series next weekend. Game one will begin on March 24th at 2 p.m. ET.
