PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The #22 Lady Tigers fell in the first game against the Bears mustering only three hits, but then bounced back in game two with ten connections to win by double-digits.
GAME ONE: Campbellsville 1, Pikeville 2
Both teams started the game with a quiet first inning, as Pikeville later got the game moving in the second. Pikeville had action in the bottom of the second with one run and two hits. The Lady Tigers had no runs or hits until the top of the fifth frame when
Caroline Pitcock doubled to left center.
Madison Davis hit a double too, to center field, and tallied herself an RBI, sending Pitcock in to score for the Lady Tigers. The Bears finished the game 2-1 as they put another away in extra innings in the bottom of the eighth.
The two teams were battling, with pitcher
Katy Chadwell at 69 strikes for her 94 pitches in the game. Davis led the team with one run.
GAME TWO: Campbellsville 12, Pikeville 1
The Lady Tigers were seeking revenge in that game after their uncharacteristic loss in the first game. Campbellsville began strong with a run from Davis in the second inning. The Lady Tigers put up two runs with two hits in the third from
Keely Bowling and
Riley Hurst. The Tigers were an offensive showcase, with ten hits with 12 runs. Five of the 12 runs came in the top of the seventh inning as Pitcock,
Selynna Metcalfe, Davis,
Morgan Carter, and
Lexi Miller all scored to keep extending the Lady Tiger's already heavy lead.
The bats came alive for Campbellsville with Hurst posting two doubles while
Payton Blades had a double and a homer. Bowling knocked one over the fence as well.
Courtney Patterson got the win as
Allison Bush relieved her and then
Emily Reynolds closed things out. Between the three pitchers, they had four strikeouts.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET as they continue their series with Pikeville.
