CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Lady Tiger Softball hosted the Georgetown Tigers in a doubleheader Thursday afternoon. Campbellsville swept Georgetown on the day, totaling 13 runs between the two games while holding the rival Tigers to just three.
Game One: Campbellsville 7, Georgetown 0
The first inning started with a Campbellsville error which allowed Georgetown to get a runner on base. The Georgetown Tigers were able to get a few runners on base, but the Lady Tigers got three outs before they could score a run. Campbellsville started the first frame with runners in scoring positions from an early Georgetown error.
Riley Hurst and
Lexi Miller sat on third and second base respectively as
Caroline Pitcock was up to bat. Pitcock doubled down the third base line and brought Hurst and Miller home for the first runs of the game.
Payton Blades then hit single to left field. As Pitcock was making her way home, Blades was thrown out at second.
Georgetown was able to add two hits in the second inning but remained scoreless. Keeley Bowling led off for the Lady Tigers and ended up on base after being hit by a pitch. Hurst then reached first on an error and Bowling came across home plate scoring the fourth Lady Tiger run. Leading off the third frame,
Taylor Windell hit a solo homerun giving the Lady Tigers a 5-0 lead.
The Lady Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth frame. Those runs came from an RBI homerun by Pitcock who brought Miller home with her.
The fifth inning was the first frame that Campbellsville didn't score a run and Georgetown remained scoreless through all five. The sixth inning went scoreless for both teams as well as the Lady Tigers went into the final frame with a seven-run lead. The Lady Tigers got three quick outs in the top of the seventh and that wrapped up the game.
Campbellsville tallied 11 hits compared to Georgetown's four. Those 11 hits resulted in seven runs and Georgetown was scoreless through all seven innings. The Georgetown pitchers collectively pitched 129 times compared to Campbellsville's
Katy Chadwell pitching inly 90 times. Chadwell's strike percentage was .667 compared to the Tiger's .605.
Game Two: Campbellsville 6, Georgetown 3
The second game of the doubleheader started with
Courtney Patterson on the mound for Campbellsville and the Lady Tigers saw three up, three down. Both teams went scoreless through the first and second frames. The Lady Tigers scored their first run in the bottom of the third inning. The run came from Miller after Pitcock doubled to right field. Pitcock scored the second LTS run after
Madison Davis singled and got the RBI.
Ashby Murt then reached first on a fielder's choice which brought Windell across home plate.
Georgetown scored their first two runs of the day in the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth frame, the bases were loaded with one out on the board as
Payton Blades was up to bat. She flied out to center field but that brought Kaleigh Tuck home for the fourth Lady Tiger run. Davis led off for the Lady Tigers in the bottom of the fifth and she doubled down the left field line.
Camille Conkright came into run for Davis and then Murt singled to right field, which advanced Conkright. Bowling would single to right field which gave her an RBI and brought home Conkright for a 5-2 Campbellsville lead. Murt was the next run for the Lady Tigers, and she came home after Hurst grounded out to shortstop.
Georgetown started the sixth inning off by scoring one more run which had them trailing by three. Campbellsville was unable to score any runs in the sixth. With two Georgetown runners on base and no outs on the board, Chadwell came into the circle for Patterson in the top of the final inning. After the pitching switch, the Lady Tigers get three quick outs and secured the sweep.
Campbellsville tallied just two more hits than Georgetown but won the game 6-3. The Lady Tigers went 4-7 (.571) with runners on and less than two outs while the Georgetown Tigers never got the chance at 0-0.

nd as they wrap up the three-game series with the Georgetown Tigers. The game will be at Hord Softball Field and the first pitch is at 2 p.m. ET.
