CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Lady Tiger Softball faced Georgetown for the final game in their three-game series Sunday afternoon. The rival Tigers managed to tally more hits than Campbellsville, but the Lady Tigers came out on top, scoring seven runs.
Georgetown opened the game by plating two runs and acquiring four hits. The Lady Tigers tied up the game as they closed out the first inning.
Lexi Miller was the first Lady Tiger to cross Homeplate after
Taylor Windell singled. In the same play, a Georgetown error allowed
Caroline Pitcock to score. In the next inning, Campbellsville took their first lead of the game.
Riley Hurst singled to right center, which allowed
Ashby Murt to score that third run.
The rival Tigers' two runs in the first inning were their only two of the game, and Campbellsville continued to add to their lead. The Lady Tigers remained scoreless through the third inning, and Georgetown was able to add two more hits, but the Lady Tigers opened it up in the fourth frame. Scoring four runs off four hits, the first Lady Tiger on base was the leadoff batter,
Riley Hurst, who singled through the left side. Miller was up to bat next and hit a home run bringing Hurst home. Later in the inning,
Brea Croslin flew out to left field but got the RBI bringing Pitcock home. Following that play, Murt singled down the left field line and brought Windell across Homeplate.
The fourth inning was the last time either team saw any runs, and Georgetown tallied three more hits through the remainder of the game. The Lady Tigers won the game 7-2 as Campbellsville had eight hits compared to Georgetown's 10.
Katy Chadwell was the lone pitcher for the Lady Tigers, allowing only one walk and a .685 strike percentage. Campbellsville went 4-10 (.400) with runners in scoring position compared to the rival Tigers going 4-13 (.308).
Lady Tiger Softball will be back in action Friday, April 7th when they look to take on University of the Cumberlands. The game is at Hord Field, with the first pitch at 1 P.M. ET.
