CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — #23 Lady Tiger Softball took to the road Wednesday and played a doubleheader against Union College Bulldogs. Campbellsville swept the doubleheader, taking both games handily behind explosive offensive play.
GAME ONE: Campbellsville 10, Union 0
The first game came to a slow start with no runs from either team in the first three innings. The Lady Tigers were the first to score with back-to-back runs from
Payton Blades and
Taylor Windell in the top of the fourth inning. Campbellsville continued to score, with no runs back from Union.
Throughout the rest of the game, the Lady Tigers held the lead and won their first of the day, as the Bulldogs remained scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Campbellsville's two pitchers,
Katy Chadwell and
Selynna Metcalfe threw 61 total pitches and poised a .705 strike percentage, compared to Union's 117 total pitches and .564 strike percentage. Offensively,
Riley Hurst led the team with three hits out of her three at-bats and Blades with three RBIs.
GAME TWO: Campbellsville 14, Union 0
Game two of the doubleheader started with the Lady Tigers hitting the scoreboard early with six runs in the top of the first inning from Hurst,
Ashby Murt,
Caroline Pitcock, Windell, and
Madison Davis.
The Bulldogs couldn't send in any runs the rest of the game, whilst Campbellsville kept on scoring through the last few innings, winning the second game of the day 14-0.
Campbellsville's pitcher,
Courtney Patterson, threw 61 total pitches and poised a .656 strike percentage, compared to Union's 139 total pitches and .561 strike percentage. Offensively, Windell led the team with three hits out of her three at-bats and four RBIs.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action for a doubleheader Friday, April 14
th facing Shawnee State University. Campbellsville will be hosting the Bears with the first pitch set for 2 p.m. ET.
