DANVILLE, KY – The Tigers stepped up in a big way Friday evening at the Centre Twilight Invitational, running away with the meet and winning with 158 team points.
The relays were two key highlights for the Tigers Friday evening. The 4x100m relay of
Darionta Bell,
Elijah Moore,
Campbell Rawlings, and
Maikyah Stowe was able to pull away on the home stretch leg to win in 41.89. Stowe, Moore,
Miah Chatmond, and
Zachary Phelps pulled away early in the 4x400m relay to win that event in 3:24.56.
Rawlings earned another win to lead the sprint side of the track in the 100m. Rawlings ran a PR in the 100m at 10.81. Moore was close behind in 2nd, finishing in 10.91, while Bell was 5th overall in 11.12. Moore and Bell brought in more points in the 200m. Moore finished in the bronze medal position in 22.48, with Bell bringing in 4th place in 22.59.
Stowe has been consistently in the sub-50 second barrier all outdoor season in the 400m. He was able to lead a teammate into that sub-50 second category. Stowe earned 3rd at 49.57, with Chatmond dipping under the mark at 49.69, placing 4th. Phelps ran a PR in the event and is inching close to sub-50 at 50.24, placing 5th.
On the distance side of the track,
Dakota Brady doubled on the day in the 1500m and 5,000m run. In the 1500m, Brady brought the Tigers four points with his time of 4:03.61, while in the 5,000m, he was 4th overall in 15:40.93. Brother duo Lukas and
Myles Smithson earned six points in the 3,000m steeplechase. Lukas was 5th in 10:25.73, and brother Myles was 7th in 10:39.62.
A combined 24 points came out of the hurdles Friday evening.
Ishan Cooper won the 110m hurdles with his time of 15.27, with
Gregory Carr placing 3rd in 15.91. The duo switched leads in the 400m hurdles as Carr led with a 3rd place time of 58.06, and Cooper was 7th in 1:00.06.
Kilan Macklin has been undefeated all outdoor season in the long jump and continued that streak Friday night. Macklin hit a mark of 7.08m in the event.
Matthew Mays returned after a weekend off last week, placing 4th in 6.67m. Mays turned around and won the triple jump with an NAIA B standard of 14.54m.
CamRon Hamby was 2nd behind Mays in 14.16m, and Macklin rounded out the triple jump scoring placing 8th at 12.75m.
Cainan Daniels tied the all-time school record in the pole vault on Friday. Daniels placed 5th overall with a height of 3.50m. He will now stand next to Jacob Stefunko, who set the record in 2016.
Blake Skaggs earned two points in the event, placing 7th with his height of 3.20.
Zachary Weiss was 8th in 3.05.
Seth Cartwright brought in the final points for the Tigers in the shot put. Cartwright threw for a mark of 14.08m on his fourth throw of the afternoon.
Campbellsville will return to the track next weekend for a two-day meet at Eastern Kentucky on Friday, April 21st, and Saturday, April 22nd.
