PORTSMOUTH, Ohio. – The Tigers took the road to battle the Bears of Shawnee State University Saturday evening. After 90 minutes of Campbellsville controlling the pace of the contest, the Tigers persevered from a late push by the Bears and took the win 2-1. 

The first half of the match came with little action, keeping the scoreboard tied at nothing for most of the frame. With 15 minutes left on the clock, Keenan Prince landed the first goal for the Tigers. In the last couple of minutes of play before the halftime horn, Shawnee State retaliated with a goal of their own, closing the opening 45 minutes with a tie, 1-1.

The second half started with much of the same from both teams, fighting for control over the ball. Halfway through the second frame, after a strong and resilient effort from Campbellsville's offense, Felix Baubeng scored and put the Tigers a goal ahead of the Bears on the board. That was Baubeng's fourth goal in just three games on the year. Throughout the remainder of the second half, both teams fought incessantly for control over the ball, not allowing their defenses to falter. With time winding down in the 89th minute, the Bears stood at the penalty line. They missed their game-tying shot though, snagged by Christian Hauge. The final stayed at 2-1 for Campbellsville.

At the end of the game, the Tigers collected a total of 15 shots with nine on target, while the Bears totaled 6 with just three on the frame. The Tigers' defense kept the Bears' offense dissipated, only allowing two shots through in the first 45. 

The Tigers will be back in action, traveling down to South Carolina to battle the Rams of Columbia International on August 29th, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
