Mountaineers stymie Lady Tigers, 1-0

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers continued with their non-conference play against the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers on Tuesday night in Finley Stadium. Campbellsville fell against Eastern Oregon in a physical, defensive contest, 1-0.

The Mountaineers showed up ready to play and applied pressure quickly with their opening goal at the five-minute mark. The match continued with physicality between both teams. Later in the 36th minute, the Lady Tigers had three rapid fire shots from an Olja Ivanovic corner, then Alba Vea, and finally Bethin Boyle. This concluded the first half and Campbellsville sought to bounce back in the second half.

As play resumed, the Lady Tigers had a thrilling opportunity from another shot by Ivanovic, but the opposing keeper saved it. Agatha Nimene's try in the 67th minute resulted in an opportunity to take a corner, where she then took another shot that missed its mark. The Lady Tigers and Mountaineers fought until the final seconds of the game, but Eastern Oregon's strong defense won out, 1-0.

In both halves, Campbellsville had more chances to score than Eastern Oregon but just couldn't find the net, nearly doubling the Mountaineers' total amount of shots at 15 to nine.

On Saturday September 2nd, the Lady Tigers return to play as they host Mid-America Nazarene University in Finley Stadium at 6 p.m. ET.
