Mason Cheek paces Campbellsville at Cedar Creek Lake

CRAB ORCHARD, Ky. – Mason Cheek led the way last Saturday for the Kayak Bass Fishing Team at Cedar Creek Lake. The true freshman, in his first tournament, posted a 4th place finish with five fish going 86 inches.

The Tigers took three anglers to compete in their season opener. Logan Wilson caught two fish for 30 inches. Cody Cissell ended with one fish that was 16.5 inches long. Wilson finished in 28th place, and Cissell was four spots behind in 32nd.

"We had a great trip to start the fall season," said Head Coach Dustin Jones. "To see freshman Mason Cheek go out and perform like he did against a field of seasoned kayak veterans was awesome. It was his first bass tournament out of a kayak, and after this top-five finish this weekend, I know he will be a valuable asset to this team moving forward. It is a good sign for things to come this fall. We travel to Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Texas for the 3rd Hobie College Event of the year this month, and it was great to see the guys get out and have some success before we make that big trip."
