MCKENZIE, TN – The Tigers secured their eighth win in a row and move to .500 on the year after a 3-0 win over Freed-Hardeman Friday evening.
Camryn Rich started off her night on a hot note in the first set. Coming out of set one, she had five kills and ten assists. Campbellsville made the separation midway through the set when they went on an 8-0 making the score 20-12. The Tigers closed out the first set in 25-17.
Into the second set, Campbellsville continued to assert their dominance. They had a .289 hitting percentage compared to the Lions .074.
Taylor Thacker had collected ten digs through two sets, while
Molly Shannon was leading in kills after two sets with seven. The Tigers won the second set in dominant fashion 25-14.
The Tigers closed out the match in a strong way. The team had an early 10-3 lead before the Lions called a timeout. Campbellsville had a .474 hitting percentage before the timeout in the set. Errors plagued the Lions in the third set, with six in total. Campbellsville won the match 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-18).
Overall, the Tigers led the Lions in almost every statistical category. Campbellsville had 51 digs, 43 kills, 41 assists, and seven aces. Campbellsville finished with a .294 hitting percentage, while the Lions had a .100 hitting percentage.
Emily Aabye led the Tigers on the offensive side of the ball with 13 kills. Rich had 29 assists, 13 digs, and seven kills.
Taylor Thacker had a big night with ten digs and four aces on her evening.
Campbellsville will look to continue their hot streak when they stay in Tennessee for another road match. They will travel to McKenzie, TN, on Saturday, September 30th, for a 1 p.m. ET first serve against Bethel University.
