Lady Tigers concede two goals in final ten minutes in draw against #16 Phoenix

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The (RV) Lady Tigers hosted the #16 and undefeated Cumberland Phoenix Saturday afternoon. After not allowing goals past the 80th minute, Campbellsville's defense slipped up and Cumberland took advantage to end the match in a draw, 2-2.

It was an active first half offensively as both teams combined for 18 shots (11 for Campbellsville and seven for Cumberland). The Tigers were getting great looks with seven of their attempts on-goal but couldn't convert until late in the opening half. In the 40th minute, Olja Ivanovic rocketed a shot off the crossbar and the rebound was headed in by Angeline Kieh for her eighth goal of the season. Just before the horn, Rirei Sasaki snagged a ball that threatened to even things up. After that, Agatha Nimene had a great opportunity which was saved and then Charlotte Maconachie tried but it was blocked.

In the second half, Lina Berrah made her first appearance of the season to a rousing applause from the home crowd. Their cheers would be just as, only a few minutes later, she headed in a pass from Agatha Nimene for the score. Up 2-0, Campbellsville didn't relent in their gameplan consistently pushing the ball down the field to go up another goal and not resting on their laurels. Cumberland reversed the control and kicked two goals in the final ten minutes: one from a bit of distance and the second from a header off a corner. The match ended in a draw at 2's.

A testament to the evenness of the match, each team had 17 shots, each team's shot percentage was .118, and each team's keeper had seven saves.

Next for the Lady Tigers is #5 Columbia College. Campbellsville will be back at Finley Stadium on that Wednesday, October 2nd at 2 p.m. ET.
