#7 Aquinas bests Campbellsville, 3-1

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – On Thursday, the #24 Lady Tigers hosted the #7 Aquinas Saints at Finley Stadium. Campbellsville's defensive efforts were not strong enough against Aquinas' effective offense, losing the match 3-1.

Just after 20 minutes into the game, each team's defense were blocking shots. Despite the Tigers' steadfast efforts at the goal, with shots from Agatha Nimene and Olja Ivanovic, the Saints did not allow any of their attempts through. The Saints connected on their first goal of the game at the 35-minute mark.

At the half, the Lady Tigers trailed the Saints 1-0. Campbellsville collected two saves out of the four shots Aquinas took at the goal. The Saints had 11 total shots compared to the Lady Tigers' three.

Within the first five minutes of play in the second half, the Lady Tigers logged three corner kicks by Angeline Kieh. Minutes later, that offensive pressure broke through when Alba Vea landed the first goal for the Lady Tigers, assisted by Kieh. The Eagles quickly retaliated though with another two goals in their favor at the 70- and 80-minute marks. As the match came closer to the end, Ivanovic attempted another shot at the goal; however, her try was unsuccessful. Despite the Lady Tigers' valiant efforts, it was not enough against Aquinas, losing the game 3-1.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Fayette, Missouri, to go against the Central Methodist University Eagles on September 12th, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
