CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The #3 Lady Tigers hosted the Bethel University Lady Wildcats Thursday night. With a 21-point advantage over Bethel, Campbellsville won 82-61.
The Lady Tigers earned an early lead in the game from the opening seconds of the first quarter. Although the Lady Wildcats racked up a few buckets to catch up with the lead,
Maddy Boyle's third three-pointer, which was only halfway through the first 10 minutes of play, preserved Campbellsville's advantage.
Kayla Luebbe's back-to-back buckets propelled the Lady Tigers to a 10-point advantage over Bethel. Campbellsville went into the second quarter leading the game, 21-11.
Within the first few minutes of the second quarter, the Lady Wildcats collected a couple of buckets and prevented the Lady Tigers from landing any themselves.
Kaitlynn Wilks quickly broke Bethel's streak with an offensive rebound, resulting in a layup. With six minutes remaining in the second quarter,
Courtney Pritchett racked up her fifth assist of the game, passing the ball around to her fellow Lady Tigers. Wilks scored her first three-pointer of the game, after which both teams' scoring plays halted, with steal after steal down the court. Campbellsville closed the first half holding the lead, 38-24.
At the half, the Lady Tigers tripled the Lady Wildcats with six offensive rebounds to their two and doubled them with 12 assists to their six.
Boyle and Wilks landed bucket after bucket, adding to Campbellsville's advantage. Although Bethel retaliated, the Lady Tigers' defense remained strong, deterring the Lady Wildcats from coming any closer than 13 points from the winning end of the scoreboard. With
Whitney Hay going two-for-two from the free-throw line, Campbellsville made their most significant advantage of the night, holding 20 points over Bethel. The Lady Tigers remained advantaged in the last quarter, 61-39.
In the opening 20 seconds of play,
Bailey Pedigo's fourth assist of the contest aided Boyle in landing her fifth three-point jumper against Bethel.
Sarah Sutton came off the bench with another three-point for Campbellsville, bringing the Lady Tigers a 30-point advantage over the Lady Wildcats. Bethel retaliated with a few points from the charity stripe, but not enough to bring Campbellsville down from the victory. The Lady Tigers defeated Bethel 82-61.
At the end of the game, Campbellsville surpassed Bethel in several factors of the contest, most significantly with 13 offensive rebounds to their five and 25 assists to their 15. Four Lady Tigers reached double digits during tonight's game: Boyle with 18 points, Lee with 17, Wilks with 11, and Luebbe with 10.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action hosting the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions on Saturday, January 20th, beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
