CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Tigers hosted the Freed-Hardeman University Lions on Friday night. With nearly eight times as many shots as Freed-Hardeman, Campbellsville took the victory, 2-0.
Within three minutes from the start of the game, Jarred Hendricks scored the first goal of the game. Makwe Nkoana and Gustav Oskarsson attempted back-to-back header shots, saved by the Lions' goalie. Jamie Bird collected five corner kicks throughout the half. At the end of the first half, the Tigers led 1-0.
Halfway through the second half, Tom Schutte scored Campbellsville's second goal of the match. A few minutes later, Oskarsson struck Freed-Hardeman with another header shot, unsuccessful in his attempt to score. The Lions' offensive efforts were not enough to catch up with the Tigers, resulting in a Campbellsville victory, 2-0.
The Tigers will be back in action, taking the road to Harrodsburg, Kentucky, to battle the Campbellsville-Harrodsburg Pioneers on Monday, October 21st, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
- The Tigers surpassed the Lions in multiple statistical categories: shots (23-3), shots on goal (11-1), and corners (10-2).
- Oskarsson and Hendricks led the Tigers with four shots each, followed by Schutte and Mihlali Blesi with three each. Malte Schou collected one save throughout tonight's contest.
- The Tigers have only lost three games against the Lions since their first game in 2002. The last time Campbellsville lost against Freed-Hardeman was during the 2007 season. Tonight's victory marks the Tigers' sixth consecutive win against the Lions since then.
