#16 Lady Tigers score 5 straight to fly past #13 Phoenix

LEBANON, Tenn. —The #16 Lady Tigers hit the road to battle the #13 Cumberland University Phoenix Friday afternoon for their first foray into Mid-South Conference play in 2024. Going into the match, both squads were tied in season goals (at 53, tied for fifth most in the nation), but Campbellsville collected five consecutive goals to erase their 3-0 first-half deficit and extended their undefeated season to 11-0.

The Phoenix were first on the scoreboard scoring the first goal of the game at the ten minute mark. Cumberland's offense only heightened their efforts, amplifying their lead to 3-0 halfway through the first half. Paula Sanabria scored the Lady Tigers' first goal assisted by Alba Vea with only ten minutes left in the first half. Just a few minutes later, with an avid assist by Momo Chogyoji, Molly Metcalfe brought Campbelsville closer to the lead with another goal, closing the first half trailing the Phoenix, 3-2.

Lina Berrah opened the second half with back-to-back goals assisted by Bethin Boyle, earning the Lady Tigers their first lead of the game. As the last 20 minutes of the game approached, Berrah secured a hat trick, posting another goal for Campbellsville and expanding the Lady Tigers lead to two goals over Cumberland. The Phoenix tried a few shots to end things, doubling their offensive efforts, but were unable to score any goals. The Lady Tigers finished the game with a victory, 5-3.

Continuing the MSC portion of their schedule, the Lady Tigers will be back in action hosting the #1 University of the Cumberlands Patriots on Friday, October 11th beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
