Tigers emerge with the win in five-set thriller versus the Lions

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Campbellsville Tigers traveled to face off against Freed-Hardeman Lions on Friday night. The Tigers clinched the victory in five sets, securing the win against the Lions, 3-2.

In the first set, both teams battled for each point. Freed-Hardeman and Campbellsville traded kills and errors, keeping the scoreboard tight, but the Lions secured the set with a service ace, closing it out at 25-23.

The second set started with a quick lead for the Tigers, scoring eight consecutive points unanswered by the Lions. By the time the scoreboard hit 12-2, the Lions had allowed four straight kills from Cierra Merrick, who was assisted each time by Jana Krstic. The Lions struggled to respond and fell behind the Tigers, finishing the set with a dominating 25-9.

The third set opened with Campbellsville taking an early advantage after a series of attack errors from the Lions. However, the Lions rallied back, bringing the score closer. The Tigers and the Lions traded points throughout the set, but it was not enough for Campbellsville. Freed-Hardeman made a late surge to clinch the set at 25-20.

Both teams struggled with service errors in the fourth set, exchanging back and forth. Campbellsville took advantage of Freed-Hardeman's mistakes, and the Tigers secured the set 25-23 with a final kill from Emily Aabye.

The Tigers dominated early in the last set, establishing a lead. Despite some errors, Campbellsville maintained control. However, the Lions refused to back down and mounted a comeback. The set was highly competitive, but the Tigers secured the set 15-12.

The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, November 2nd, in the last game regular-season match. Campbellsville will face Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
