WARSAW, IN –
Dominic Malel led the Tigers on Friday winning the NCCAA individual title and helping the team win their first NCCAA Championship.
Malel won his first meet of the season after previously placing runner-up in three different races this season. Malel beat out Evans Pololet of Wayland Baptist by 3.29 seconds in a time of 25:33.71.
Lukas Smithson and
Martin Batel earned NCCAA All-American honors as the 2-3 man on the team. Smithson was 5th overall in the race in 25:47.90, Batel was 7th in the race in 25:53.80.
Jean-Benoit Merte placed 12th in the race with a time of 26:13.00.
Brayden Kaelin made his first appearance in the top five for Campbellsville this season, placing 20th in 26:58.10.
Aaron Smith and
Samuel Bennett brought in the Tigers 6-7 man for the meet. Smith was 23rd at 27:03.70, and Bennett was 24th at 27:05.50.
Campbellsville won with a team score of 45 points, beating out Malone by six points with 51. The Tigers 1-5 spread was 1:24.39.
Campbellsville will now look ahead towards the NAIA National Championship next weekend in Columbia, MO on Friday, November 22nd.
