Tigers shutdown Wildcats in three-straight sets to advance to Mid-South Conference Semifinals

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Campbellsville Tigers headed to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to battle in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Friday night. Campbellsville, seeded third, faced the number six seed Bethel University Wildcats. The Tigers dominated the court, sweeping the Wildcats in straight sets to secure their spot in the semifinals.

In the first set, the Campbellsville Tigers established an early lead with effective kills set by Jana Krstic. The Tigers maintained momentum through solid front-row attacks from players like Cierra Merrick and Brooke Hager. Bethel responded with a few solid plays but struggled with errors, allowing Campbellsville to widen the gap. As the set continued, Campbellsville took advantage and built their lead, dominating the set 25-16.

Bethel obtained the first point for the second set. As the frame started, both teams were head-to-head to dominate it, but the Wildcats struggled to keep pace and could not answer seven consecutive points made by the Tigers, breaking their momentum. Campbellsville's defense held steady throughout the set. Jaden Francis stood a back-row attack that helped the Tigers maintain the rallies and kept Bethel from making a comeback. The Tigers maintained control and claimed the set with a kill by Hager, 25-14.

The third set was decisive for both Campbellsville and Bethel. Emily Aabey opened it with a kill, setting the mood for the last set. The Tigers were leading the scoreboard; however, the Wildcats crawled up and created a back-and-forth battle on the court. The Tigers' offense found every open spot to kill the ball and made its way to securing the set, 25-21.

The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow, Friday, November 8th, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, facing off against the number two seed University of Cumberlands to compete in the Semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
