CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The number four-seeded Campbellsville Tiger battled against the number five-seeded Bethel University Wildcats to qualify for the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference. Hendricks delivered the game-winning goal in overtime, propelling the Tigers to the semifinals with a 1-0 victory in overtime.
As the first half started, both teams went head-to-head to control the field and find the back of the net. Campbellsville had several opportunities to score, but Bethel's defense interrupted their chances. The Wildcats also threatened to score, but Malthe Schou kept them out. Both teams exchanged corners and shot attempts as the first half ended scoreless.
Both teams struggle to connect and dominate the scoreboard in a fierce battle to advance in the conference tournament. Campbellsville and Bethel created several scoring chances throughout the second half. After 90 minutes of play, the game was tied, forcing the match into overtime to determine the winner. With only three minutes left in overtime, Gustav Oskarsson placed the ball with a header pass for a winning header goal from Jarred Hendricks.
The Tigers will compete in the Semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Columbia, Kentucky. They will face off against Lindsey Wilson University, the #1 seed. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET on Monday, November 11th.
- Both teams had four shots on goal, but Campbellsville registered more shots (14 to 12) and corner kicks (8 to 5), while Bethel made three saves compared to Campbellsville's four.
- The Campbellsville Tigers lost to the Bethel Wildcats in the 2023 quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference and have not advanced to an MSC semifinals match since 2022.
