Boyle, Wilks combine for 46 points to down rival #11 Tigers

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — The #3 Lady Tigers continued their Mid-South Conference play against the #11 Georgetown Tigers Thursday afternoon. After leading by as many as 30 points, Campbellsville maintained a comfortable lead for the majority of the contest and won the Battle of the Tigers.

Georgetown opened the first quarter with a three-pointer, but their early lead on the game did not prevail for too long. Kaitlynn Wilks scored the first points for the Lady Tigers from the charity stripe and with a layup assisted by Maddy Boyle. Halfway through the first ten minutes of play, Campbellsville stole the lead and widened their advantage basket after basket. With only two minutes left in the first quarter, Whitney Hay came off the bench with a jumper, bringing the Lady Tigers doubling the opposing Tigers on the scoreboard. At the end of the first, Campbellsville held the lead, 25-15.

To continue their momentum, Courtney Pritchett made the Lady Tigers the first to score in the second quarter. With two opportunities at the free-throw line, Georgetown collected a few more points in their favor, but not quite enough to catch up with Campbellsville. Bailey Pedigo and Pritchett's jumpers propelled their lead, preventing the opposing Tigers from clawing their way up to the Lady Tigers' winning end of the scoreboard. Although both teams kept going back and forth at the basket, Campbellsville kept a stronghold on things, staying over 20 points over Georgetown for most of the quarter. At the end of the first half, the Lady Tigers remained comfortably ahead, 51-29.

Much like the first, the opposing Tigers opened the third quarter with a basket. However, Kaitlynn Wilks swiftly retaliated with a three-point bucket aided by Lauren Lee's fourth assist of the game. As the quarter progressed, Kayla Luebbe came off the bench with her first layup of the match with Tyra Flowers' first assist. The game came to a scoring halt for a few minutes until Georgetown scored another three-point basket in their favor. The Lady Tigers earned consistent opportunities at the charity stripe, pushing the pace despite the opposing Tigers' attempts at the basket. Going into the last quarter, Georgetown trailed Campbellsville, 69-41.

Hay opened the last quarter with a layup. The opposing Tigers took advantage of the Lady Tigers' turnovers, bringing the ball to their end of the court and racking up a few buckets to decrease their deficit. However, Campbellsville's offense prevailed, with back-to-back Boyle three-pointers preserving their upper-hand. At the end of the game, the Lady Tigers took the victory, 82-65.

Campbellsville significantly outperformed Georgetown in multiple aspects of the game, including a 53.4% (31-of-58) field goal percentage to their 37.5% (24-of-64), with ten steals to their five, and 40 points in the paint to their 22. Four Lady Tigers reached double digits throughout tonight's game: Boyle with 26 points, Wilks with 20, Lee with 13, and Pritchett with 10.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, February 3rd hosting the Cumberland Phoenix beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET.
