BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Campbellsville wrestling squad headed south to compete at the Mid-south Conference Championships yesterday. The Tigers returned with four tournament champions: #8
Izaeah Beavers, #9
Nick Yancey, #2
Antwuan Burns, and #9
Gabe Craig. CU fell short of repeating as the team conference champions but earned runner-up status.
"Our team finished second but it went pretty good for us." said Head Coach
Franky James. "We had four champions, two runner-ups, and eight national qualifiers." Yancey was named Deno White Wrestler of the Tournament. Burns earned Freshman of the Year.
At 125lbs, Beavers took out Lindsey Wilson's #4 Conner Diamond, 7-6 in the finals. En route to his final match, he earned two major decisions.
For the 141lbs. division, Yancey had a dominant showing. Coming in as the two seed, he earned a pin and a technical fall before taking out Lindsey Wilson's #3 Adrian Ayala in the finals.
In the 157lbs. bracket, Burns competed for the Tigers. Burns, the one seed, earned a minor and major decision before taking out University of the Cumberlands' #25 Weston Melvin 3-1 in the finals.
At 165lbs., #7 Shadrick Slone earned a 9-0 major decision over Daylon Stafford of Midway. Slone lost in the finals 7-3 to University of the Cumberlands' #6 Turner Black.
#7 Gabriel Martinez started strong at 174lbs. with a 59-second pin over Rio Grande's Aiden Green. Martinez fell 3-2 to Lindsey Wilson's #12 Cory Cannan in the semifinals but then returned, earning a pin in his consolation semifinals match to take fourth.

Chandler Woenker competed at 184 lbs. Woenker beat #23 Tobias Garrison of University of the Cumberland's (KY) 4-1 but then lost to Cumberland Tennessee's #18 Rocco Horvath 10-4 in the finals.
At 197lbs., #25 Grayson Stevens lost in the semifinals but fought back for third after earning a technical fall and a major decision on the back side.
At heavyweight, Craig competed for the Tigers. He earned a pin in his semifinal match before taking out Lindsey Wilson's #13 Carlos Figueroa 12-8 in the finals.

Jaden Sonner ended in 6th.
The Tigers hit the road to Wichita, Kansas, to compete for a spot on the podium at the NAIA National Championships. The event will begin on February 29th, and finals will take place on March 2nd.
