Tigers fall to Georgetown in final conference match-up

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Tigers battled the #23 Georgetown College Tigers for their last conference match-up of the season. Despite keeping a close game for most of the contest, the home Tigers lost to Georgetown, 73-60.

The opposing Tigers opened the game with a three-pointer and quickly answered with another three-point basket by Jace Wallace. Georgetown got ahead of Campbellsville in the following minutes of the game, but Darius Harding brought the home Tigers closer to the lead basket after basket. Tyrelle Hunt came off the bench with a fierce jumper, stealing the lead from the opposing Tigers. Halfway through the first half, Georgetown reclaimed the lead, but Campbellsville only trailed by a couple of points. Harding did not allow the pressure of struggle to deter his efforts, sinking back-to-back jumpers to decrease Campbellsville's deficit. At the end of the first half, the score tied at 32.

Although the home Tigers trailed the opposing Tigers in most statistical categories, they strongly benefited from their handling errors, collecting 12 points off turnovers to their four.

Coming back into the second half, the rivalry between the teams only increased, continuously tying the score and stealing the lead from one another. Georgetown strengthened their offensive plays from short range, collecting multiple baskets in the paint and amplifying their upper-hand to 10 over Campbellsville. The home Tigers took advantage of the opposing Tigers' fouls to rack up points from the charity stripe. Campbellsville attempted to catch up, but their accuracy did not match their attempts, falling behind on the scoreboard. At the end of the night, the home Tigers lost to Georgetown, 73-60.

Two Tigers reached double digits during tonight's game: Harding with 24 points and Wallace with 14.

The Tigers will be back in action, hosting the Carolina Christian College Centurions on Saturday, February 24th, beginning at 3 p.m. ET for their last home game of the season.
