Tigers sweep UNOH over the weekend

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY – The Tigers were able to win both games with a walk-off in the tenth inning in game one to win 4-3 and win game two

GAME ONE: CAMPBELLSVILLE 4, UNOH 3
The Racers and Tigers were tied through the first two innings. Drake Miller gave the Racers the lead early in the top of the third with a ball through the gap to score and give them a 1-0 lead. Campbellsville didn't record a hit in the first three innings, while the Racers had five hits. Garrett Maloney had three strikeouts in the first three innings. Henry Wright was able to get the Tigers first hit in the bottom of the third with a ball into shallow right-center field. 

The Racers scored their second run of the game in the top of the fourth to make it 2-0 off a double to right field. Campbellsville prevented a third run with a 5-3-2 double play to get out of the inning. In the top of the fifth, Wright had a ball sent to center field and was able to throw the ball into home to prevent a third run for the Racers. 

Maloney finished off his day pitching 4 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. PJ Ledesma came in and made an immediate impact on the mound with a strikeout and a 5-3 play to get out of the inning. Through six innings, the Racers held a 2-0 lead with nine hits compared to the Tigers two hits. 

Ledesma had five strikeouts through his first eight batters. In the top of the eight, Ledesma had a balk called against him to score the runner from third base to make the score 3-0. In the bottom of the eighth, Campbellsville had two runners on with no outs after back-to-back walks. 

Chad McCann came in the clutch with a double to left center to score three runs and tie the game at 3-3. Reid Sturn reached base in the bottom of the ninth with the go-ahead run before the inning ended 3-3.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, Amayas Lamar hit a line drive to right field for the single. Gonzalez would hit the sacrifice bunt to advance Lamar to second. Trent Buchanan advanced the runners on an error to second and third after UNOH intentionally walked McCann. River Terry came in for a pinch-hit and hit the walk-off to win 4-3 in the bottom of the tenth. 

Campbellsville finished the game with five hits and three errors. Ledesma led the Tigers with six strikeouts.

GAME TWO:  CAMPBELLSVILLE 4, UNOH 2
McCann continued his clutch hot streak at the start of game two in the first inning. He hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first to left field to get the early 2-1 lead. After hitting a walk-off in game one, Terry nearly hit the second home run in the inning before being caught at the wall. Zane Morrison had four strikeouts through the first three innings and no hits. 

In the bottom of the third, the Tigers stranded three runners on base after all three outs were caught in foul territory. At the start of the fourth inning, Campbellsville was able to pull a 6-4-3 double play to get out of the inning and hold the 2-1 lead. Gonzalez hit a deep ball in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run RBI double to center field to open the lead 4-1 with two outs. 

After scoring in the first inning, the Tigers held the Racers scoreless the next four innings while still holding them to no hits. Campbellsville had eight hits and seven runners left on base through the first five innings. Morrison recorded five strikeouts through the first five innings. 

The Racers recorded his first hit of the game from Darius Freeman before Campbellsville got out of the sixth inning. Morrison pitched the complete game for Campbellsville. He finished with eight strikeouts on the day. 

With the sweep, Campbellsville moves to 6-3 on the season and its sixth win in a row. They will have a nine-game home stand over the next two weeks. Midway University will come to town on Monday, February 26th, University of Michigan-Dearborn will come to campus February 27-28 for a three-game series, Indiana Tech will take on the Tigers in a weekend three-game series March 2-3, and IUPUC will finish off the homestand with a doubleheader on March 5th.
