#8 Cumberlands' threes cruise Patriots past Tigers, 104-69

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – As the regular season entered its closing stretch, the Tigers hosted the #8 University of the Cumberlands Patriots. Cumberlands could not miss and took the win, 104-69.

The Patriots opened the first half hot from the field and never looked back. They never trailed in the contest, hitting tough, contested jumpers from tipoff onward. Campbellsville kept things competitive with and even trimmed the Cumberlands' lead to five points nearing halftime. With less than five minutes left on the clock, the Patriots left the Tigers trailing by ten, strongly benefitting from their deep ball. At the end of the first half, the Cumberlands led, 50-32.

The Tigers were shooting a respectable 42.4% from the field, but that paled in comparison to the Patriots' 60.7%. Cumberlands hit 50% of the threes they put up too, and Campbellsville didn't connect on one of their six tries.

Cumberlands' threes remained their biggest upper hand in the game into the second half. Halfway through, the Patriots nearly doubled the Tigers on the scoreboard, despite Chandler Clements' continued success in the paint against smaller defenders. Nonetheless, sometimes teams have everything going their way, and the Patriots took the victory 104-69.

At the end of the contest, the Tigers' biggest strength remained their points in the paint with 40. However, the Cumberlands' 51.9% three-point percentage to Campbellsville's 11.8% and 14 rebound advantage earned them the victory. Two Tigers made it to double-digit scoring during tonight's match-up, Clements with 18 points and Cameron Willis with ten.

The Tigers will be back in action traveling to Columbia, Kentucky to battle the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders on Saturday, February 10th, starting at 4 p.m. ET.
