NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — The #13 Campbellsville Tigers made a huge statement win Tuesday, securing the overall and individual win at the Garn Championship at Champions Trace hosted by Spring Arbor. They moved past the (RV) Cumberlands Patriots in the final round, led by overall winner
Kevin Latchayya, to win comfortably.
Latchayya was in a three-way tie to end the first round, but pulled away in the second after he replicated his one-over-par performance. He saved his best round for last, going even and emerging victorious by five strokes over second place. Latchayya chipped in ten birdies to lead Campbellsville.
Both
Chase Wilson and
Carson Childress joined Latchayya in the All-Tournament Team. Wilson, after going +11 in his first two rounds, rallied for a fourth-place finish with his three-over-par finale. The biggest mover by far though was Childress. He jumped 23 spots following his +15 status going into the final round. Childress managed a one-over-par in round three to tie for fifth.
Kobe Hill ended 55th at +32 and
Corentin Hue was T-75th with his +39.
In addition to the receiving votes Patriots, the Tigers bested a field that included #20 Lawrence Tech, #21 Marian, (RV) Indiana Wesleyan, (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan, and (RV) Northwestern Ohio.
Next up for the Tiger golf team is the Roadrunner Invite in Dalton, Georgia. That invitational will kick off on April 8th.
