DANVILLE, KY – The Tigers proved once again they are ready for the spotlight with the lights shining brightly Friday night at the Centre Twilight Invitational.
In Danville, Campbellsville dominated the sprints throughout the entire meet.
Elijah Moore won the sprint double in the 100m and 200m. Moore won the 100m with a 10.81 (-1.6) wind. He came back later on in the meet with the 200m victory in 22.13 (-1.0) wind. Moore was also on the 4x100m relay team that won with a time of 41.57,
JaQuez Campbell,
Darionta Bell, and
Zachary Phelps were also on the relay.
Campbell,
Ishan Cooper, and
Brandon Anthony joined Moore in scoring in the 200m. Campbell placed 4th overall in 11.44, Cooper was behind Campbell in 5th at 11.46, and Anthony rounded out the group in 7th in 11.58. Phelps was the only other scorer outside of Moore in the 200m, with his time of 22.78 placing 7th.
Maikyah Stowe, Bell, and Phelps collected 16 points from the 400m. Stowe led the way earning runner-up in the event in his outdoor debut in 49.68. Bell ran a personal best time of 49.79, placing 4th, and Phelps was 6th overall, at 50.34.
Alexander Steen ran a season best time of 1:58.05, only .16 shy of a personal best in the event, placing 4th on Friday. Ethan Johnson and
Luke Burton finished in back-to-back positions in the 1500m. Johnson was 7th in 4:18.18, while Burton was 8th overall in 4:26.75.
Samuel Larson was the lone scorer for the Tigers out of the 5,000m. Larson was 6th bringing in three points in 16:28.52.
The duo of Cooper and
Van Thrasher has been dominant in the hurdles all season since the beginning of the indoor season. They went 1-2 in the 110m hurdles on Friday, with Cooper coming away with the win in 14.89 with Thrasher earning the silver in 15.12.
Zahnte' Brown and
William Riley finished in scoring position. Brown was 6th in 17.99, while Riley was 8th in 18.18.
Riley and Brown were back-to-back finishers in the 400m hurdles. Riley finished in 1:03.22, coming in 6th, and Brown finished in 7th place in a time of 1:12.50. 19 points came from the 3,000m steeplechase, with
Isaac Kiprop,
Lukas Smithson, and
Myles Smithson finishing in spots 2-3-4. Kiprop was the runner-up in the event in 9:51.61, Lukas earned the bronze in 10:07.58, while Myles was 4th overall in 10:08.19.
In the field events,
Kilan Macklin returned to his winning ways for the first time this outdoor season. Macklin won both the high jump and long jump. In the high jump, he tied for the win with teammate
CamRon Hamby. The duo cleared 1.95m on their second attempts of the day. Wilson finished in a two-way tie for 6th with a height of 1.90m. Macklin won the long jump by .05m, with his best coming in the preliminary round of 7.07m. Campbell was 3rd in the long jump with a mark at 6.76m. Wilson was 5th with a mark from his second jump of 6.61m.
Jackson Hollinsworth earned runner-up in the pole vault with a height of 4.10m on his first attempt of the day.
Justice Edlin,
Cainan Daniels, and Anthony helped Hollinsworth with nine more points in the event. Edlin was 5th overall at 3.65m, Daniels had his best jump come in at 3.50m, placing 6th, and Anthony was able to hit a height of 3.05m, placing 7th.
The triple jump crew was the key event for Campbellsville on the evening. 32 team points were added to the total from the event alone.
Corey Smith II, Hamby, Campbell,
David Young, and
Zachary Mason were all part of that point total. Smith earned another victory to his resume with a mark of 13.76 (+2.3) wind, Hamby was 2nd at 13.43 (+3.1) wind, Campbell earned 3rd at 13.38 (+3.2) wind, Young earned 4th in 13.05 (+3.3) wind, and Mason was 6th overall at 12.37m (+2.2) wind.
24 points came from
Seth Cartwright and
Jonah Oliver on Friday. Cartwright led the duo in the shot put with his mark of 13.57m, earning 2nd overall. Oliver placed 4th with his throw landing at 13.23m. Oliver came back with a bronze medal finish in the discus throw of 42.79m. Oliver finished his day off with a 4th place throw in the hammer, with his best coming on his third attempt of the day at 42.81m.
Malachi Crawford won the first event of his collegiate career in the javelin throw. Crawford threw for a mark of 42.44m on his third attempt of the day.
The Tigers will return to the track for the Kentucky Invitational on April 19th-20th. They will conclude the regular season on April 26th-27th at the Louisville Open.
