Lady Tigers sweep Bulldogs in Union doubleheader

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville Lady Tigers took to the road to take on Union College in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Tigers end victorious, winning both games over the Bulldogs.

GAME ONE: Campbellsville 3, Union 2

Jessie Daniels singled to shortstop to begin the game. Emily Reynolds followed with a double to center field, advancing Daniels into scoring position at second. When the final out was recorded, both were left stranded. The Bulldogs managed to put two runners on base but couldn't send any across the plate.

The second inning moved quickly with both sides being retired in three up, three down fashion.

Daniels earned her second hit of the day with a single to right field and later stole second. Caroline Pitcock sent a pitch to left field to land a single, advanced to second, and scored Daniels for the first run of the ball game. Morgan Carter singled to center field to reach base in the top of the fourth inning. Carter stole second but was unable to make her way around the bases before the conclusion of the half-inning. Campbellsville capitalized with a double play, preventing the Bulldogs from adding any runs to their side of the scoreboard, to move into the fifth inning.

Daniels continued her pattern, reaching base with a single to left field in the top of the fifth. Reynolds doubled to left field and advanced Daniels to third. With the help of Pitcock and an error on the catcher, Daniels and Reynolds both found their way across the plate, giving the Lady Tigers a 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs.
