GEORGETOWN, Ky. — The Lady Tigers took on the Georgetown College Tigers on their second day on the road and their second-to-last regular-season series of Mid-South Conference play. Campbellsville closed their weekend in Georgetown with straight wins, blanking the rival Tigers in game one then following that up with 14 hits (two more than the first contest) in their game two victory.
GAME ONE: Campbellsville 5, Georgetown 0
Emily Reynolds singled to center field in the opening of the first inning, however, she was unable to reach the plate before switching sides with the opposing Tigers. Georgetown was quickly put away in three up, three down style during the bottom of the first.
The Lady Tigers got ahead during the second inning, as
Morgan Carter and
Camille Conkright each collected a single bringing in two runs for Campbellsville. Much like the first, the opposing Tigers were swiftly put away during their share of the inning.
Caroline Pitcock singled to left field during the top of the third, unable to score as the bottom of the inning approached. The opposing Tigers collected their first hit of the game at the bottom of the third, however, they were yet to make it home.
Kaeleigh Tuck and Carter each collected a hit for the Lady Tigers during the top of the fourth, however, neither made it across the plate. Georgetown loaded their bases during their bottom of the fourth, but they were yet to score when the end of the inning was recorded.
The top of the fifth was highlighted by a three-run home run to left field by
Keely Bowling, propelling Campbellsville to a five to nothing advantage. The opposing Tigers singled to left field, however, they closed the inning with a batter left on base unable to reach the dish.
The Lady Tigers were put away in three up, three down during the top of the sixth. Two Georgetown batters were left on base at the end of the bottom of the sixth, unable to score any runs in their favor.
Campbellsville reached base via walk on a couple of occasions, but did not manage to cross home before the end of the game. As the opposing Tigers were unable to retaliate during their share of the seventh, the Lady Tigers took the victory.
Campbellsville outperformed Georgetown in multiple aspects of the game: hits (12-5), at bats (31-26), doubles (4-1), and RBIs (5-0). Carter led the Lady Tigers with three hits and Bowling with three RBIs. Additionally,
Katy Chadwell struck out five opposing Tiger batters.
GAME TWO: Campbellsville 4, Georgetown 2
Throughout the first two innings, both teams collected hit after hit, singling and doubling time after time. However, neither managed to score.
Lindsey Mitchell singled to left center during the top of the third, bringing
Emily Reynolds across the plate and making Campbellsville first on the scoreboard. Georgetown retaliated with a double to left field, tying the scoreboard during the bottom of the inning.
Tuck collected a hit during the top of the fourth, unable to reach home. The opposing Tigers got ahead with another run resulting from a single to center field.
During the fifth inning, Reynolds scored the first home run of the game to left center, matching the score once again. Bowling and Windell collected hits that brought their fellow Lady Tigers across the plate, stealing Georgetown's lead.
Campbellsville loaded their bases during the top of the sixth, however, they were unable to cross the dish before switching sides with Georgetown. The opposing Tigers were quickly put away in three up, three down style during their share of the inning.
Each team collected a hit in their portion of the final inning, however, neither made it across the plate, finishing the second game of the day with another Lady Tiger victory.
Campbellsville surpassed Georgetown in multiple statistical categories: hits (14-9), doubles (5-2), and OPS (1.076-.667). Reynolds, Mitchell, and Bowling each collected an RBI for the Lady Tigers. Additionally,
Courtney Patterson and Reynolds worked together striking out four opposing Tiger batters
