LEXINGTON, KY – A loaded NCAA and NAIA field at the Jim Green Invitational helped the Tigers come back with qualifying times and marks across the board.
In the 100m, JaQuez Campbell placed 28th in 10.91 with a (+3.0) wind. Maikyah Stowe and Zachary Phelps finished within .09 seconds of each other. Stowe was 35th overall at 22.29, and Phelps was 38th in 22.38.
Darionta Bell narrowly missed a sub-50 second performance in the 400m with a time of 50.96.
Ishan Cooper and Van Thrasher continue to be the Tigers key points in the hurdles this season. Cooper moved up the NAIA rankings in the 110m hurdles, running 14.45, and is now 13th in the nation. Thrasher ran 14.70 in the preliminary round and earned NAIA B Standard.
Thrasher bounced back with a school-record performance in the 400m hurdles. The previous record was held by national champion Detrick Briggs, set back in 2010 in 55.20, while Thrasher ran 55.17.
In the 4x400m relay, Bell, Thrasher, Cooper, and Malachi Crawford placed 6th in 3:29.42. Kilan Macklin finished in a tie for 9th overall in the high jump at 1.95m. Macklin was 8th in the long jump at 7.10m, with his best coming on his third attempt at (+3.2) wind.
In the triple jump, CamRon Hamby punched his ticket to the national championship with an NAIA A Standard mark of 14.63m and is tied for 9th in the nation. Corey Smith II hit an NAIA B Standard mark of 14.52 and is ranked 14th in the nation.
Seth Cartwright was able to throw for 13.43m in the shot put on his first attempt of the day. Jonah Oliver threw 42.78m in the discus throw, placing 28th overall. Oliver placed 28th again in the hammer throw with a mark of 40.77m.
Campbellsville will return to the track on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27, at the Louisville Open.
