NEW ALBANY, In.- The Tigers traveled up to Indiana to battle the Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers on Tuesday. Despite collecting avid homeruns throughout the game, Campbellsville was unable to defeat Indiana Southeast, 13-3.
Chad McCann began the first inning with a single to right center; however, he was unable to reach the plate before switching sides with the Grenadiers. Indiana Southeast followed during the bottom of the first with a single through the right side, scoring the first run of the game. The Grenadiers got ahead by a couple of runs with a two-run home run to left center.
Much like the first, although Mael Zan singled to left field, the Tigers were put away before being able to score. Indiana Southeast also singled through the right side but could not reach the dish before the end of the inning.
Bret Bowers put Campbellsville on the scoreboard with a home run to right field during the top of the third. The Grenadiers began their bottom of the third with back-to-back hits. Although they had two batters left on base by the end of the inning, neither managed to reach home.
With a single to right field in the opening of the top of the fourth, Henry Wright brought the Tigers within a run from Indiana Southeast's lead as Zan crossed the plate. The Grenadiers reopened the gap on the scoreboard with a home run and a single during their portion of the fourth.
Kale Seitz scored the second Tiger home run of the game to right field during the top of the sixth. However, Indiana Southeast continued to expand their advantage, scoring five runs during the bottom of the inning.
Seitz and Lucas Banta each collected a hit for Campbellsville to begin the eighth inning, but the Tigers were put away before collecting any runs in their favor. The Grenadiers only amped up their efforts, bringing three Indiana Southeast batters across the dish to close the game with a loss for Campbellsville.
A handful of Tigers collected two hits throughout the game: Jorge Gonzalez, Seitz, Zan, Trent Buchanan, and Bowers. Additionally, McCann, Jackson Dollar, Cameron Hood, Jackson Izatt, and Joe McBride worked together, striking out eight Grenadier batters.
