Four school records fall at Clark Wood Invitational over the weekend

LOUISVILLE, KY – Campbellsville used the high level of competition over the weekend to set four school records and multiple NAIA marks.

Isaac Kiprop was the first Tiger to have a breakthrough day. Kiprop set one of the oldest school records remaining outside of the Mark Miller era. Kiprop set the 3,000m steeplechase record with a time of 9:22.01, breaking the previous record held by Andre Braima of 9:35.83. That time is an NAIA B Standard and only .01 seconds off NAIA A Standard. Kiprop was the runner-up in the event, only 4.36 seconds behind the winner, and is ranked 13th in the nation.

Ishan Cooper was .03 off the school record last weekend at Kentucky. He was able to set a new school record in the 110m hurdles with a 5th place time of 14.34 and is now ranked 12th in the nation. The previous school record was held by national champion Tyler Lewis in 2017 of 14.42.

CamRon Hamby tied the school record mark in the high jump of 2.05m, placing 6th. Hamby hit his best jump of the day on his final attempt at the height and is tied with All-American Brayden Russell in the event in the record books. Jackson Hollinsworth was the final Tiger to hit a school record mark on the weekend. Hollinsworth tied for 3rd in the pole vault and set his own record by .03m this weekend.

Kilan Macklin secured his auto bid to the national championships with an NAIA A Standard mark of 7.31m in the long jump. Macklin placed 4th overall in the event and hit his best mark on his opening jump of the day. He is now ranked 8th in the nation.

Zachary Phelps narrowly missed a top-ten placement in the 200m with his personal best time of 21.80, placing 11th overall. Alexander Steen was 14th in the 800m at 1:58.22. Van Thrasher is coming off a school record performance in the 400m hurdles at Kentucky last weekend. This weekend, he dipped under the 56-second barrier again with a time of 55.80, placing 7th.

The 4x100m relay team of Darionta Bell, Maikyah Stowe, Phelps, and JaQuez Campbell placed 7th in the event in 41.99. Campbell finished behind Macklin in the long jump in 8th place with a personal best mark of 7.12m, only .03m off NAIA B Standard.

Hamby returned in the triple jump with a bronze medal performance in the event of 14.49m. Seth Cartwright was 7th in the shot put with a mark of 14.64m on his 4th throw of the day. Jonah Oliver hit a top-ten mark on his first throw of 12.39m.

Malachi Crawford and Justice Edlin were the final key performers of the weekend. Crawford was 3rd in the event with a mark of 44.15m, and Edlin was 4th overall at 32.44m.
