CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The (RV) Lady Tigers hosted the Freed-Hardeman Lions in the second day of their conference series Sunday. Campbellsville finished the day with two losses against Freed-Hardeman, with game two coming down to the wire.
GAME ONE: Campbellsville 2, Freed-Hardeman 7
The Lions began the game with two batters crossing the plate during the top of the first. The Lady Tigers were quickly put away in three up, three down fashion during their share of the inning.
Freed-Hardeman singled to left center, unable to reach the dish before the end of the top of the second was recorded.
Keely Bowling earned a free base in the opening of the Lady Tigers' portion of the inning, unable to reach home.
In the opening minutes of the third inning, the Lions scored the first home run of the game, while Campbellsville was yet to score. The Lady Tigers were put away in three up, three down style marking the end of the third.
Much like the third, Freed-Hardeman opened the inning with a home run through the left side.
Caroline Pitcock reached base via walk to open Campbellsville's portion of the fourth. Bowling singled down the left field line resulting in Pitcock scoring the first run for the Lady Tigers.
The Lions lined out to first base, and on an error by Campbellsville, a Freed-Hardeman batter scored another run during the top of the fifth.
Emily Reynolds followed by reaching base on an error by first base and advanced to second as Pitcock earned a free base via walk.
To begin the sixth inning, Freed-Hardeman reached on a fielder's choice, unable to score before switching sides with Campbellsville. The Lady Tigers were put away in three up, three down style before moving on to the final inning.
The Lions quickly loaded their bases at the start of the seventh inning. Despite a Freed-Hardeman avid attempt at bat,
Lindsey Mitchell swiftly disrupted their opportunity from third base. The Lions scored again, doubling to left center, expanding their advantage on the scoreboard. Going into the bottom of the seventh, Campbellsville stood six runs behind Freed-Hardeman.
Jessie Daniels doubled up the middle followed by Reynolds doubling to left center. Daniels crossed the plate, decreasing the Lady Tigers' deficit in the game. Pitcock singled up the middle, however, it was not enough to overcome the Lions.
Campbellsville surpassed Freed-Hardeman in a few statistical aspects of the game: walks (4-1) and assists (10-2). Reynolds and Bowling led the Lady Tigers with one RBI each while
Katy Chadwell and Allyson Bush worked together striking out five Lady Lion batters.
GAME TWO: Campbellsville 5, Freed-Hardeman 6
Freed-Hardeman collected a hit in the opening of the game, unable to score before switching batting sides.
Emily Reynolds began the bottom of the first inning with a home run, making Campbellsville first on the scoreboard.
The Lions were quickly put away in three up, three down fashion.
Callie Webb opened the bottom of the second earning first base via walk and stealing second. Although Daniels singled up the middle, she did not reach the plate before the end of the inning.
Freed-Hardeman tied the score flying out to right field during the top of the third. Not long after, the Lions collected two singles through the left side, claiming the lead over the Lady Tigers. Mitchell singled up the middle, followed by a free base for Bowling.
Taylor Windell reached base on a fielder's choice and stole second base. Although Campbellsville managed to load their bases, they were not able to score.
Freed-Hardeman was quickly put away in three up, three down style during the top of the fourth. Daniels singled up the middle to start the bottom of the fourth, stealing second base shortly after and advancing to third on a wild pitch. Pitcock singled to right center, swiftly bringing Daniels across the dish and decreasing the Lady Tigers' deficit in the scoreboard.
The Lions grounded out to second base at the beginning of the fifth, reopening the gap in the score. Freed-Hardeman gained momentum, singling with a bunt and bringing another batter home. Reynolds finished the top of the fifth with a double out. Reynolds avidly doubled to center field with a 2RBI getting Conkright and Webb across the dish, coming within a run from the Lions.
Freed-Hardeman doubled to right center, scoring another run in their favor. Campbellsville got quickly put away in three up, three down fashion to finish the sixth inning.
The Lady Tigers struck back, putting the Lions away in three up, three down style during the top of the seventh.
Morgan Carter reached first on an error by shortstop. Webb pinch ran for Carter, crossing the plate with a single to right field by
Kaeleigh Tuck. Daniels reached base on a fielder's choice, as Tuck was taken out at home from second base to catcher. Despite the Lady Tigers' efforts to retaliate, the Lions won the second game.
Reynolds led with three RBIs while
Courtney Patterson and
Ellie Coley worked together striking out two Freed-Hardeman batters.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action taking the road to Wilmore, Kentucky to battle the Asbury University Eagles on Friday, April 12th beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
