OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - The Lady Tigers were back on the road to Indiana to face off against the Oakland City Mighty Oaks on Saturday night. Campbellsville's defense shut out the Mighty Oaks, not allowing any shots at goal, and the offense came out on fire, winning 3-0.
Opening the first half, the Lady Tigers' offense came out firing quickly with a shot from Marta Prieto within 17 seconds of the game but was unsuccessful. Both the Tigers and Mighty Oaks were struggling to find their groove. However, the Lady Tigers were back on track when Prieto found the back of the net, assisted by Mitie Rocha. In the final minutes of the first, Momo Chogyoji and Oddny Helgadottir both had shots at goal but were saved by the Mighty Oaks' goalie.
Much like the first half, the Lady Tigers came out attacking with a shot from Bethin Boyle two minutes in, but Oakland City's goalie saved it. Campbellsville fell quiet for much of the remainder of the second half, with shots falling unsuccessful. Campbellsville's defense stepped up to the plate and was golden. Boyle was not discouraged and scored the second goal for the Lady Tigers in the 77th minute, aided by Berrah. Not long after, the third and final goal of the game was scored by Chogyoji, who was assisted by Molly Metcalfe.
The Tigers will be back in action on September 17th, hosting the Brescia Bearcats, with the game set to begin at 5 p.m. ET.
