Lady Tigers get it done by committee, besting Ohio Christian

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The #3 Lady Tigers hosted the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers on Monday night. Campbellsville's team play, with nearly double as many assists as Ohio Christian and seven times the bench points, secured the Lady Tigers the victory, 75-49.
Lauren Lee started the game with a jumper in the opening seconds of the game. The Trailblazers responded with a jumper of their own, tying the score. Whitney Hay and Tyra Flowers' defensive rebounds brought them to score in the paint bringing the Lady Tigers ahead. Bree Gowdy, Paige Serafini, and Dea Bradley scored the first buckets beyond the arc, bringing Campbellsville to double-digits on the scoreboard before Ohio Christian was able to get another basket. Halfway through the first ten minutes of play, the Trailblazers managed pass past the defense and put up some made shots. However, the Lady Tigers' momentum was too strong for Ohio Christian to catch all the way up. At the end of the first quarter, Campbellsville led the game, 24-14.
Hay began the second quarter with a jumper aided by Lee's sixth assist of the contest. Flowers' rebounds remained one of the Lady Tigers' biggest strengths, preserving their control over the ball. Campbellsville capitalized off the Trailblazers' turnovers collecting steals and clawing their way up the lead. Halfway through the second quarter, Hallie Allen and Maddie Nalley came off the bench widening the Lady Tigers' advantage to 22 points over Ohio Christian. At the half, Campbellsville kept the lead, 44-22.
The second half came with a slow start, as neither team managed to connect. Two minutes into the quarter, the Trailblazers broke the scoring halt with their first three-pointer of the night. Flowers and Lee swiftly counteracted their efforts with back-to-back layups. Both teams boosted their defenses, preventing each other from scoring. Bella Stiles came off the bench with avid defensive rebounds, keeping the Lady Tigers' ahead as third quarter continued to unfold. Going into the final quarter, Campbellsville kept the upper hand, 55-37.
The Lady Tigers opened the fourth quarter from the charity stripe, as Flowers went two for two, extending Campbellsville's lead. Lee's steal brought her up the court, and Ohio Christian's foul-heavy play brought her to the free-throw line time after time. Bradley scored her second three-point bucket of the night with less than five minutes left in the game, remaining a strong force propelling the Lady Tigers forward on the advantage. Stiles faced multiple opportunities at the charity stripe, preserving Campbellsville's upper hand in the closing minutes of the contest.
